No Truck Toll on the A24

Do you drive on the A24 (also known as the Blankenburg tunnel)? Then you pay e-TOL: electronic toll via automatic number plate recognition. You do not have to stop anywhere, but you must pay on time. What do you pay e-TOL for?
The A24 connects the A15 at Rozenburg and the A20 at Vlaardingen. If you drive on this road, you pay e-TOL electronically. There are no toll booths; you drive straight through.

Good to know: you can always choose an alternative route without toll.

How does e-TOL work on the A24?
The A24 has no toll booths or barriers. Above the road are steel structures with cameras that record your registration number and determine whether your vehicle belongs to the light or heavy class. Data is processed in accordance with GDPR.

You can pay e-TOL in 2 ways:

1) Automatic e-TOL payment with MOVE-IZI
Do you drive on the A24 regularly or want a hassle-free payment? Automatic payment is easiest. Register your registration number once with MOVE-IZI and link a payment method. The toll is then paid automatically whenever you drive on the A24.

Important: with MOVE-IZI you pay no extra costs for the service. You only pay the official toll amount.

2) Pay per trip via e-TOL.nl
Would you prefer not to sign up? Pay each toll trip separately via e-TOL.nl: from 7 days before to 72 hours (3 days) after your trip.

A24 toll amounts: what does it cost per trip?
Toll amounts depend on your vehicle weight. Current rates:

Light vehicles (up to and including 3,500 kg)
EUR 1.57 per toll trip

For: cars, vans, campers and motorcycles up to 3,500 kg and electric vans up to 4,250 kg.

Heavy vehicles (above 3,500 kg)
EUR 9.49 per toll trip

For: lorries, buses and other heavy motor vehicles above 3,500 kg (and electric vehicles above 4,250 kg).

Additional information about A24 toll costs
Trailers, semi-trailers and caravans: no extra charge.
Toll amounts are adjusted annually (inflation correction).
Payment options with MOVE-IZI: prepaid or pay later
MOVE-IZI has two clear options for e-TOL payment. You choose what suits you.

Prepaid: pay e-TOL before your trip
You load credit before you set off. No worries about toll trips.

With pay later you drive first and pay later. Depending on your payment method you receive a weekly or monthly invoice and pay via direct debit or credit card.

Avoid extra costs: pay on time
Anyone who pays A24 toll too late can face extra costs. If you do not pay on time, a reminder for late payment follows with EUR 9.00 administrative costs from e-TOL. A penalty of EUR 35.00 may follow.

Our advice: do you occasionally drive on the A24? Choose automatic payment or set a fixed reminder to stay within the 72-hour deadline.

Frequently asked questions about e-TOL A24
Can I pay e-TOL at a counter?
No. e-TOL can only be paid online: either per trip via e-TOL.nl, or automatically via a provider such as MOVE-IZI. Physical payment is not possible.

I drive a lease or hire car. Who pays the toll?
Usually you pay the toll yourself, unless the leasing company/hirer arranges this. Check this in advance.

Can MOVE-IZI process toll trips from before my registration?
No. Your toll trips are registered from the moment your account is successfully created.

I receive a reminder for late payment from e-TOL.nl even though I am with MOVE-IZI. What now?
Pay the amount on time to avoid extra costs and then contact our customer service.

Truck toll (vrachtwagenheffing) and the A24
From 1 July 2026, the Netherlands introduces a truck toll (vrachtwagenheffing).

The truck toll applies to owners of Dutch and foreign lorries (N2 and N3 categories) with a technically permissible maximum mass above 3,500 kg. They pay per kilometre driven on almost all motorways and several provincial and municipal roads.

On the A24, only e-TOL applies — no truck toll.

On-Board Unit (OBU)
To pay the truck toll, an On-Board Unit (OBU) is mandatory in every lorry. This OBU cannot be used to pay e-TOL. You obtain an OBU by entering into a contract with a truck toll service provider.

MOVE-IZI advises all customers with lorries to arrange this in good time.

Do you pay e-TOL via MOVE-IZI?
Then also take out a separate agreement for the truck toll with a service provider, for example via Nedlinq if you only drive in the Netherlands.
