Paying e-TOL on the A24: per trip via e-TOL.nl or automatically via MOVE-IZI

Anyone driving on the A24 pays e-TOL. This can be done in two ways: per trip via e-TOL.nl or automatically via a provider such as MOVE-IZI.

This article explains the differences, so you can choose what best suits your situation.

Payment method 1: per trip via e-TOL.nl

Via e-TOL.nl you pay for each toll trip separately. This can be done from 7 days before your trip up to and including 72 hours (3 days) after it. You enter your number plate, choose the date of the trip and pay the official toll amount.

This option is suitable if you use the A24 occasionally and do not want to create an account. The drawback is that you need to keep track of every trip yourself and pay on time. If you do not, you will receive a payment reminder with €9.00 in administrative costs.

Payment method 2: automatically via MOVE-IZI

With MOVE-IZI you register your number plate(s) once and link a payment method. As soon as you pass the A24, the toll is processed automatically. After that, you do not need to do anything.

Via your account you always have an overview of your trips and payments. You can choose between prepaid (loading credit in advance) or pay later via direct debit or credit card.

MOVE-IZI charges no extra costs: you only pay the official toll rate.

Concrete scenarios: which method suits which situation?

Scenario 1: You drive on the A24 once a month, for example for a client visit. In that case, paying per trip via e-TOL.nl is a logical choice: you only pay when you drive and do not need an account.

Scenario 2: You drive on the A24 every day, for example from Maassluis to Vlaardingen. In that case you quickly accumulate around 40 trips per month. Automatic payment via MOVE-IZI is then more practical: you do not need to keep track of anything and you avoid forgotten payments and €9.00 in administrative costs.

Scenario 3: You drive a company vehicle that is used by multiple colleagues. In that case, automatic payment via MOVE-IZI is the most practical option: all trips are recorded automatically, regardless of who is driving.

Comparison: when do you choose which method?

Paying per trip via e-TOL.nl is suitable if you use the A24 infrequently and do not want to create an account. You only pay when you drive, but you must keep track of every trip and pay on time yourself.

Automatic payment via MOVE-IZI is convenient if you use the A24 regularly, have multiple vehicles or do not want to risk forgotten payments. After registering once, you do not need to do anything else.

Payment deadline: watch the 72-hour limit

If you choose to pay per trip via e-TOL.nl, you have a maximum of 72 hours after the trip to pay. After that the payment deadline has passed and additional costs will apply. With automatic payment via MOVE-IZI this risk is completely eliminated.

Both methods based on the official toll rate

Regardless of the payment method, you always pay the official toll rate: €1.57 for light vehicles (up to and including 3,500 kg) and €9.49 for heavy vehicles (over 3,500 kg). MOVE-IZI does not charge any extra costs on top of this amount.

*Toll charges depend on the weight of your vehicle. These are the current rates as of January 1, 2026 (these rates may change annually)

Switching from per trip to automatic

Do you want to switch from paying per trip to automatic payment? Create an account with MOVE-IZI, register your number plate(s) and link a payment method.

Please note: trips made before your account is active are not processed automatically. You still need to pay for these via e-TOL.nl.
